  • Dan Ives · Yorkville Ives & Co.Bullish

Palantir's AI use cases are accelerating, showing the fundamentals will prove out the AI thesis.

Dan says that when you look at hyperscaler capex, which checks out, and at Palantir, the use cases are accelerating. He argues that the gut-check on AI stocks will be followed by fundamentals proving out, as he saw at Palantir, Apple and the hyperscalers.

“You look at Palantir, the use cases, that's accelerating.”at 24:53

  • Dan Ives · Yorkville Ives & Co.Bullish

Palantir's commercial business is off the charts, showing enterprises are lining up for AI use cases.

Ives says Palantir's commercial business is the best barometer of what enterprises are doing, and that it is 'off the charts'. He sees the stock sell-off after earnings as a knee-jerk reaction in a jittery market. He argues that Palantir combined with hyperscaler capex shows enterprises are lining up for AI use cases.

“There is no better barometer in terms of what enterprise are doing than their commercial business... it's off the charts.”at 8:44

  • Dan Nathan · RiskReversal MediaBullish

Open-source models probably help Palantir a great deal as it makes bigger enterprise inroads

Nathan says that Palantir's agnostic stance on frontier labs and the rise of open-source models give enterprise customers more choice, and that this probably helps Palantir a great deal as it makes bigger inroads in enterprise. He ties this to a stock that was already up about 30% after the prior quarter and that he thinks has much of the good news already baked in.

“I think open source probably helps them a great deal, especially as they're making bigger inroads in enterprise. It just gives more choice.”at 37:30

  • John McPeake · Rosenblatt SecuritiesBullish

Palantir is a buy with a $260 target, about 60x forward EPS, and reasonable given its growth.

McPeake says Palantir's revenue growth accelerated from 93% to 96%, and US commercial rose 148% year over year. The company returns about 50% of sales as free cash flow, so the EV-to-sales multiple is mathematically high but it is an earnings story. Even excluding operating leverage, the stock trades at well under one times its growth rate at his $260 target, which equals about 60 times one-year-out EPS. He also argues Palantir's platform is defensible as an arbiter of LLM functions with data privacy and sovereign AI.

“if you look at the growth rate here, even excluding the leverage they're getting through the operating model, it's trading at well less than one times its growth rate at my target of $260”at 16:57

  • Dan Ives · Yorkville Ives & Co.Bullish

Palantir's commercial growth is a barometer for AI spending and it can reach a $1 trillion market cap.

Ives calls Palantir one of the biggest barometers for the AI spending trade. Hyperscaler buildouts are foundational, but real use cases show up in Palantir's commercial business. He expects commercial growth well ahead of Street forecasts in coming quarters and says the stock is not expensive given free cash flow over the next few years. He has discussed a $250 price target and believes the company can reach a $1 trillion market cap in the next few years.

“I view this as one of the biggest barometers for the AI spending trade... I believe this is gonna be a trillion dollar [market] cap in the next few years.”at 13:18

  • Brian Belski · Humilis Investment StrategiesBullish

Palantir's free cash flow growth has compressed its multiple; he owns it and is bullish.

Belski says his firm owns Palantir. Free cash flow went from $321 million three years ago to $3.3 billion now. He compares it to Amazon, whose multiple fell as earnings came through. He says the multiple has dropped about 15 points in the last two years as earnings rose. He calls Palantir the company to own for software-based AI security defense, given the balance-sheet and cash-flow support behind it.

“[Palantir had] $321,000,000 of free cash flow [three years ago]. Now it's got 3,300,000,000... The multiple has actually dropped fifteen multiple points the last two years because the earnings are coming in.”at 14:22

  • James Demmert · Main Street ResearchBullish

Palantir should roughly double revenue this quarter, and at 80x earnings the valuation is still reasonable.

The stock is down about 50% this year, so it has been clobbered. He expects Palantir to double year-over-year revenue this quarter. Growth in government is strong, and commercial growth through health care and financial services is worth watching. At 80 times earnings it is not cheap, but its P/E is below its growth rate, one of the first times that has been possible. That makes him bullish, and he sees strong prints as the revival tech needs.

“Boy, I think they're going to double revenue... at 80 times earnings, that is not cheap, but it's one of the first times you've been able to buy the stock at a PE lower than its growth rate.”at 25:28

  • Bryn Talkington · Requisite Capital ManagementBullish

Palantir revenue to rise 85% and earnings nearly double; original AI software stack, stock goes higher long term.

Talkington expects revenue to be up 85% and earnings to almost double. She credits the execution of the team and says Palantir is the original AI software stack, which supports her view that the stock goes higher over the long term. She gives no further supporting detail on the business.

“Revenues are gonna be up 85. Earnings will almost double. ... They are the original AI software stack, so I think the stock long term goes higher.”at 46:21

  • Scott Galloway · NYU Stern School of BusinessBearish

Palantir's 50x forward sales leave no room; anything short of a blowout beat means the stock falls.

Galloway says Palantir trades at about 50 times forward sales, so the market expects near-perfect results. He cites Palantir and Nvidia losing about $120 billion in market cap in May the day after beating estimates. At that multiple, he argues, a beat is the minimum and anything short of a blowout is a sell. He says the market has become used to huge beats and that some air will come out of the stock. He predicts the company will beat this week and the stock will still fall, comparing it to a student who gets an A but was expected to get an A-plus.

“Palantir is trading at roughly 50 times sales... 50 times forward sales. ... And at that multiple, a beat is the minimum. Anything short of a blowout is a sell on this thing at this price.”at 1:18:35

  • Jim Cramer · CNBCBullish

Palantir should deliver good results; customer testimonials show it creates large value for clients.

Palantir reports this week, and Cramer expects nothing but good news because every testimonial he hears behind the scenes is effusive about how much value its software creates once customers adopt it. He has criticized CEO Alex Karp's fiery style in the past, but says the skills of Karp and his team make that irrelevant to results. The transcript spells the company 'PoundTier'; this refers to Palantir.

“[Palantir] also reports, and I expect nothing but good news as every testimonial that I hear behind the scenes is effusive about how much value they create when you bring them in.”at 5:48

Palantir looks like it's breaking out ahead of next week's earnings report.

Terranova wants investors to focus on relative outperformance in software, with several earnings reports coming. He says Palantir looks like it is breaking out and reports next week. The case is a chart read and an upcoming catalyst, with no fundamental argument.

“In the case of Palantir, looks like it's breaking out. They report next week.”at 45:03

  • Rob Arnott · Research AffiliatesBearish

Palantir is the biggest frothy-multiple name his index deliberately leaves out.

Arnott's index is lightly overweight the overlap stocks (the mag seven and dominant AI players) and excludes the frothy small businesses trading at high multiples, which make up about 5% of the S&P 500 and are not in his portfolio. He says Palantir is the biggest of those frothy names. The support for this view is brief, so the evidence is thin, but the implication is that Palantir's valuation is too high relative to fundamentals.

“The little businesses trading at frothy multiples are 5% of the S and P. Palantir is the biggest of them for what it's worth.”at 35:27
