Goldman Sachs benefits from M&A activity involving Anthropic.
She sees Goldman Sachs as a beneficiary of the M&A activity involving Anthropic. The transcript is garbled and gives little further support.
“Goldman Sachs, you're talking about some m and a activity here with Anthropic. I think this is a beneficiary there.”at 46:30

Goldman Sachs is a position levered to the AI trade, M&A pipeline and IPO pipeline.
Steve owns Goldman and says it is also levered to the AI trade, the M&A pipeline and the IPO pipeline. That gives it exposure beyond its core business to the deal activity he expects.
“Goldman Sachs, I own. Goldman is also levered to the AI trade and the M&A pipeline and the IPO pipeline.”at 24:50

Goldman Sachs is undervalued on a diversified mix, and he added after a 10% selloff.
The market focuses too much on net interest margin for the big banks, and it misses their diversified revenue mix. Bank of America expects about $700 million of AI savings starting next year from about 130 projects. Big banks can fund such AI projects over five years, creating a revenue opportunity regardless of rates, so he added after a 10% sell-down.
“I actually have been adding to these names. I added to all three that I just mentioned, as recently as last week once we got to a place where they were 10% sold down or more.”at 21:14

Goldman's stock sell-off after a strong quarter is wrong; the trust upgraded it to buy.
Cramer's charitable trust owns Goldman and upgraded it to a buy. Goldman beat badly, with revenue of $18.68 billion against $16.71 billion expected and 39% earnings growth. Equities revenue rose 72%, investment banking fees rose 21%, and the efficiency ratio was 59.4% against about 65% expected. The CEO stressed AI infrastructure financing and the CFO said the banking backlog was very robust. Cramer thinks the market is dead wrong to sell it and believes the boom times are not over.
“For me, this is straightforward. I think the market is dead wrong... Basically, a buy, and we said we'd be happily to be buyers at this level.”at 26:27

Steve Grasso · Grasso Global Inc.Bullish
Goldman Sachs has little adverse exposure to rising rates, making it a top bank pick with JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley.
Grasso ranks JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley as his preferred banks, in that order. He says Goldman has no exposure to rising rates and no adverse exposure to the extent that other banks do. The rate environment is the basis for his preference.
“If you look at Goldman Sachs, they have no exposure to the rising rates, no adverse exposure to the extent that the other banks do. I would pick a JPMorgan, a Goldman Sachs, and a Morgan Stanley in that order.”at 30:12

Goldman's deal pipeline hit by rising rates; tough to hold for six to nine months despite great quarter.
Goldman had a great quarter, with equity trading excelling while fixed income and commodities trading were weaker. But in a rising-rate environment, the M&A and IPO pipelines take a hit, so for the next six to nine months the stock can be very tough to hold. He expects it to keep outperforming on a relative basis, because he is uncomfortable with most of the rest of the market. He owns the stock.
“So it depends on what your holding period is. I'd say for the next six months, maybe nine months, these can be very tough stock to hold.”at 13:38

Goldman's quarter was a blowout across equities, financing, and advisory, with strong results all round.
Goldman reported EPS of $17 against about $13.65 expected. Revenue of about $18.68 billion was its second-highest quarterly figure ever. Equities revenue rose 72%, equity financing hit a record up 96%, and advisory fees of $1.7 billion were another record. Josh says Goldman is crushing it across the board. Michael counters that the stock reaction, a gap up of about 4% that closed on the lows, was disappointing.
“They just seem to be crushing it all across the board.”at 28:37

Goldman Sachs looks weak: stock far off highs, below 200-day, and deal pipeline shelved.
Goldman's fixed income revenue fell sharply quarter over quarter, even though equities and transaction volumes were strong. The stock is down about 23% from its record high three months ago, sits below its 200-day moving average, and had heavy volume on a down day. Nathan says the expected wave of AI-related IPO and deal activity from Anthropic and OpenAI has largely been shelved, and Anthropic may slip into next year. He thinks Goldman and Morgan Stanley are clearly more exposed to that than the diversified money-center banks.
“Go back and look three months ago when Goldman reported the stock closed up 9% at an all time high on massive volume. Well, look at it now. It's down 23% or so from those prior all time highs.”at 8:29

Goldman is oversold at $895 and has more earnings drivers than IPOs and M&A, so it can rally.
Cramer says Goldman's stock has fallen from $1,153 to $895 and that the banks are priced for disappointment. He argues Goldman is more than IPOs and M&A, which have been scarce. Its bond issuance and trading should benefit from the very high volatility in the market, which he thinks should help the bottom line. He says the Charitable Trust owns the stock and the club is positioned for a rebound on Tuesday's earnings.
“There's bond issuance and trading in an environment where the volatility has been so incredible.”at 3:11

Goldman Sachs offers a compelling trade: support-to-resistance ratio around its 50-day averages is favorable.
She zooms in on Goldman Sachs as an example of the bank pullback setup. Measured against its 50-day moving averages, the distance from support to resistance gives roughly the 3-to-1 reward-to-risk ratio she likes, which makes it pretty compelling as a trade. This sits within a bank-sector oversold setup ahead of earnings.
“...if you wanted to zoom in on one like Goldman Sachs, the ratio between support and then the distance to resistance... is really pretty compelling as a trade.”at 41:23
