Amazon.comBullish
Amazon's post-earnings selloff is overdone; the business and story remain intact despite the ad miss.
Finerman says the stock has fallen a lot even though the bar it had to clear rose and the earnings were not terrible, so the selloff looks overdone. She expects it may last a couple more days. She acknowledges the advertising miss matters because advertising is a high-margin business. She also notes open questions about the return on invested capital from the capex and says she would like numbers on it, but she says the business and story are still intact and the valuation reset is significant.
“I think it's somewhat overdone. I wouldn't be surprised if this lasts for a couple of more days or so, but I think that the business is still intact. I think the story is intact.”at 11:57

AlphabetUncertain
Alphabet's search monetization of AI queries is unclear; it is a show-me story for several quarters.
Finerman says the call gave no sense of concern or urgency about search and no color on how AI queries will be monetized compared with traditional search. She notes AI queries are very different and face higher compute costs, and wants a roadmap to understand that. She also points to small misses like YouTube, and calls this a show-me-for-a-few-quarters story until a turnaround appears.
“concern or urgency or anything about search... the monetization difference between an AI query and a traditional search. They're very different.”at 35:20

Amazon.comBullish
Finerman believes in Amazon and AWS, citing good numbers.
In her final trade, she says she believes in Amazon and in AWS. She points to the quarter's results as good numbers. The case is brief and rests on the AWS results from the report.
“I believe in Amazon. I believe in AWS. Those are good numbers.”at 47:16

AlphabetBearish
Alphabet's search and YouTube misses are concerning; the core business matters more than capex.
Search missed for a second straight quarter, and YouTube also worried her. The Google Cloud beat was roughly the size of the search miss, but margins were not wildly different, so the miss counts for more. She sees the narrative shifting toward capex and whether the spending expected is actually delivered. She is less worried about capex and the balance sheet than she is about Oracle. Her real concern is the underlying ad business, the 'golden goose' that generates the cash. She thinks the stock is inexpensive but calls the miss significant.
“I think that I'm not as worried so much about the CapEx and the balance sheet in this one versus when we talk about something like Oracle. But I am worried about the underlying business that is the driver, that is the golden goose that creates all the cash.”at 10:35

Meta PlatformsBullish
Meta's quarter was extraordinary, with ad pricing super strong.
Meta's quarter was extraordinary, and its ad business was very good. Ad pricing was super strong, which she expects to show up in the ad market. She sets this against Alphabet, whose search miss surprised her given how well Meta's ad business was doing. The Muse AI app was not what drove her view.
“Forget about Muse. Just the quarter itself, I thought was extraordinary. Their ad pricing was super strong.”at 24:25

AlphabetBullish
Alphabet's setup into earnings is good after a big selloff; expects strong results and a confirmation of the rally.
Alphabet has taken a pounding while Microsoft has done better, so the setup into the report is good. Finerman expects Alphabet's earnings to be good and sees the results as a confirmation for the AI trade. She points to Meta's strong advertising quarter as a precedent, arguing Google's core ad business could also be strong, and expects Google Cloud to be good. If Cloud is very strong, she thinks the street will tolerate the heavy spending.
“And I think the setup going in, Microsoft stock's done better, but Google stock is... Or Alphabet has really taken a pounding. So I think the setup is good, and I think the earnings will be good.”at 5:36

CoreWeaveBullish
CoreWeave's senior unsecured bonds have stopped falling, a positive bellwether; stock could still go higher.
Finerman treats CoreWeave's senior unsecured bonds as the key bellwether for AI financing stress. The bonds, priced around $20.32, rose about $1.80 that day. Although the gain is not huge, the bonds have stopped declining, which she sees as a good sign. She expects them to keep rising and thinks the stock could also go higher.
“They're up a buck 80 or so today, which isn't gigantic, but they've stopped going down, which is a good thing. I would suspect they would continue to go higher.”at 6:01

The Boeing CompanyUncertain
Boeing keeps deferring cash flow; she still believes it will come and is holding the stock.
Finerman says Boeing keeps deferring the time it earns a proper return, and she compares it to Charlie Brown holding the football. She keeps saying the cash flow will come, but there has been one setback after another. She sees some good in Boeing's defense business and says Boeing is still a duopoly, so she is hanging on to the stock despite this disappointing report.
“I really do feel like Charlie Brown and Boeing is holding the football, and I keep going. There's gonna be cash flow... We're still in very much of a, you know, a duopoly, and I'm hanging on to it.”at 20:56

Capital for the AI build-out is getting scarcer and costlier; some companies may not get funded.
Finerman says there is a dearth of capital and the recent AI-funding stress makes it worse. Companies will have to issue more expensive capital, either higher-cost debt or equity, and some companies may not get capital at all. Demand for AI spend may narrow to a few large firms that can get better terms.
“There's definitely a dearth of capital, and this this sort of thing makes it a lot worse... companies are gonna have to issue more expensive capital, which is either higher cost debt or equity... or some companies won't get capital.”at 4:25

CoreWeaveUncertain
CoreWeave has no major debt due for years, so its funding stress is not an immediate crisis.
Finerman acknowledges fear and spin around CoreWeave, but notes it has no meaningful debt coming due for several years. Its senior unsecured debt is pricey, with yields north of 15%, which makes it riskier. She sees the situation as shifting quickly but not a tempest in a teapot, so the outlook depends on how things change.
“They don't really have any debt due for several years. Right. So, you know, a lot could change.”at 9:35

Deckers OutdoorBearish
Deckers' results were not good; HOKA was part of the problem and tough sledding remains.
Finerman says Deckers' results after hours were really not good. HOKA was part of the problem they had discussed earlier, and even Nike had been up before this. She thinks the company still has some tough sledding ahead.
“Really not so good... HOKA was part of the problem we talked about on stock... We still got some tough sledding.”at 28:19

Kering SABearish
Gucci's years-long slump shows no turnaround, and the weakness is across all categories.
Finerman says Gucci has been a sore spot for several years with no sign of a turnaround. Gucci sales fell 6% with weakness in China, and the luxury parent's ADRs are down nearly 40% this year. She says the weakness appears in every category, even though jewelry ticked up slightly, in a very difficult market.
“Gucci has been a sore spot for them for several years with no seeming turnaround here in a broader, very difficult tape, but it was in every category.”at 41:13

Meta PlatformsBullish
Meta's core ad business is strong, with ad pricing up sharply and growth back.
Finerman points to ad prices paid in the US and Canada rising 23%, which she calls a significant move for a very large business. She says this shows Meta's advertising product is important and working, and that revenue growth is back. She also notes that capex increases this quarter were smaller than in the prior three or four quarters, so the market should give Meta a pass. She views the underlying business that funds the AI spend as a very good quarter, even though Muse monetization is still unclear.
“I thought the growth in US and Canada, that advertising price, I mean, that... That's a really significant move already on a gigantic business.”at 8:18

Chipotle Mexican GrillBearish
Pre-earnings analyst downgrades suggest Chipotle is lowering expectations before a likely miss.
Finerman argues that when analysts turn negative before earnings, the company may already know it will miss and wants expectations lowered. That behavior would give her pause. Even though the valuation is not demanding, she would rather buy the stock higher on an upswing than try to pick the bottom.
“If you're the company and you know you're gonna miss, you want them out there lowering. You want to lower expectations.”at 31:57

CoreWeaveBearish
CoreWeave's bonds yielding near 15% make placing its future debt concerning.
CoreWeave's 9 5/8% notes due 2032 briefly traded below 80 but have stalled around 80.5, which is not much of a bounce. At that price the yield is approaching 15%. Karen says that is worrying because CoreWeave still needs to place other debt, and a yield that high makes that financing harder and more expensive.
“So the yield is now approaching 15%. ... So when you think about other debt that needs to get placed, you know, that's concerning.”at 36:45

NetflixBullish
Netflix's ad miss and content-leadership turnover are worse than expected, but she is long and would buy more.
She calls the Q4 ad revenue guidance miss substantial ($2.7 versus $3), though she accepts the company's explanation of slower product rollout if that is true. She dislikes the replacement of content heads, saying it means the quarter could not be a blowout and that the situation is worse than she thought. She expects Netflix to find hit shows given its many shots on goal, but thinks it will take a long time for new content chief Peter Rice's pipeline to produce output. She notes growth came from lower-value markets while North America is mature, and that Netflix bought back $4.8B of stock at an average of $75.11, which she sees as a decent price now on sale. Despite the negatives, she is already long and would like to buy more.
“I'm long already, though. I would like to buy some more.”at 9:01

Eli Lilly and CompanyBullish
She is bullish on the GLP-1 space, with Lilly her biggest position after its appreciation.
She says she likes the GLP-1 space and is long it, with Lilly her biggest position by virtue of its appreciation. She also notes Lilly is not part of the cheap value trade, while Novo is, and that Novo's data announcement was not unexpected. Her case for Lilly rests mainly on her existing position and her positive view of the space, not on new fundamentals.
“I like the space. I'm longing the space. Lilly, just by its appreciation, my biggest position”at 22:46

Space Exploration TechnologiesBullish
Buying Tesla will be very accretive to SpaceX on the math, though the committee setup is problematic.
She compares SpaceX's enterprise value of about $2 trillion with Tesla's much smaller value and concludes that the deal will be very accretive because of the math. Tesla shareholders who become SpaceX owners would benefit from that appreciation. She is skeptical of governance, though: the special committees look ridiculous, and she believes Musk is not really walled off from them and will be called as soon as the meeting ends.
“So it's gonna be very accretive because just the math of it is the way that works.”at 35:12

Capital One FinancialBullish
Capital One's quarter was strong: credit quality beat and expenses fell.
Capital One topped earnings and revenue estimates after hours. Finerman says credit quality was a nice beat and expenses were down, so it was a really good quarter. She calls the stock interesting and notes the bank group saw similar results, though this credit-quality story differs from the others.
“I think the credit quality was a nice beat there, and the expenses were down. I mean, was a really, really pretty good quarter.”at 37:32

Meta PlatformsBullish
Market may not punish higher Meta AI spending, since Muse is popular and SpaceX's spend was well received.
Finerman expects Meta's AI capex to be higher than before. She points to SpaceX's spending being received positively, which suggests investors are now tolerant of big spending. She thinks a higher Meta spend would not get the punishment it received before. Because Muse is so popular, Meta might get a pass on how it will monetize Muse. Her view is that the market reaction to capex has shifted in Meta's favor.
“Given this SpaceX reaction to their spend, which actually seems to be received positively, maybe Meta spend, if it is higher, and I wouldn't be shocked if it were, that wouldn't receive the kind of punishment that it had before.”at 45:29

Dell TechnologiesBullish
Super Micro's pre-announced AI-driven results should be good for Dell after a rough stretch.
Super Micro pre-announced strong first-quarter revenue and credited increased demand for AI platforms. Finerman reads this as a positive for Dell, which is also an AI server and hardware supplier. Dell had been through a rough couple of weeks, so the read-through is a relief. The argument is a sector read-through rather than a company-specific analysis.
“With this [SMCI] preannounced, it has to be a good thing for [Dell]. So Dell, after a rough couple of weeks.”at 46:18
