Brazil's selloff after the election is overdone; she is adding to EWZ for its demographics.
She bought Brazil for demographics, not for either election candidate: about 214 million people, the seventh-largest country and the largest in Latin America. Under Lula, fiscal and monetary policy have been good, the currency has strengthened and stocks have outperformed. Inflation is still high but falling, and she cited a record unemployment figure. Agriculture is 23% of GDP and the country has abundant power. The short-term drop is overdone and she will keep adding.
“I didn't buy it for either candidate. I bought it because the demographics are enormous.”at 28:04
CNBC Halftime Report: The AI Correction, Tech Earnings and the Rally 10/27/26 ·
Tim Seymour · Seymour Asset ManagementBullish
Brazil's EWZ selloff is overdone; the market is oversold and about 10% cheap.
Seymour says the EWZ fell about 19% on volume about six times normal, a washout that closed about 5% above its low. He says the market was overdone and remains about 10% cheap versus pre-election levels, so the reaction is oversold. He also says Brazil could rerate significantly from the Bolsonaro rally, and the selloff was not a fundamental change.
“I think there are reasons to believe that the market was overdone. And in fact, even now, they are probably 10% cheap to where they were before Bolsonaro surprised people with that round one victory. So oversold on the reaction is my view.”at 24:00

Guy Adami · CNBCBullish
The Brazil ETF's downtrend has broken to six-year highs, and it still goes higher.
Adami says the downtrend that has run since 2008 has been broken, and the ETF is making six-year highs. Financials, resources and energy, the sectors he wants exposure to, are all in the fund and all working. He says he is cautious about chasing it here, but still thinks it goes higher from here.
“A downtrend since [2008] has been broken. We're making six year highs here... I still think it goes higher from here.”at 41:50
CNBC Fast Money: Buying Opportunity In AI Pullback?... And Oil’s Next Move 10/19/26 ·
Rebecca Patterson · Council on Foreign RelationsBearish
Brazil's rally is extended; she'd sell the news if Bolsonaro wins and is wary of chasing.
She argues the Brazil trade is a referendum on fiscal policy. Bolsonaro promised more fiscal austerity than Lula, which would reduce debt-downgrade and yield risk, but his father reversed a similar promise. The rally has been large, and she thinks the risk of a populist move after a win is high, so she would sell any pop on a Bolsonaro win and be careful chasing.
“If you get another pop on that, if Bolsonaro wins, I would sell that news because the whole thing is a referendum on fiscal policy.”at 44:00

Tim Seymour · Seymour Asset ManagementBullish
Brazil is cheap at 9.5x earnings; he would add on a Bolsonaro win and likes Brazil even after the rally.
Brazilian equities trade at about 9.5 times earnings. If fiscal austerity follows, or policy merely returns to neutral, he thinks the currency can rally. He would wait for the reaction to a Bolsonaro win but then add. He also cites Brazil's resource trade as a long-tail positive and says he likes Brazil even if something is already priced in.
“But I just look at Brazilian equities at nine and a half times, and I think if there is fiscal austerity and there's even just at least getting back to neutral from where policy is now, I think that means the currency can rally.”at 45:06
