ASML is less volatile with more consistent earnings than high-flying AI chip names; a small position.
Oxbow took a small position in ASML, less than 1% of the portfolio, as a lower-volatility alternative to high-flying AI chip names like Nvidia and Micron. Oxbow sees ASML as having more consistent earnings. Because the position is small, a significant decline in AI names would be only a minor hit to the overall portfolio.
“They're less volatile, more consistent earnings, names like Texas Instruments and ASML but they're small positions.”at 7:57

ASML is one of the world's most important companies, and its vertical integration proves Europe can build champions.
Schmidt cites ASML as evidence that Europe can build world-leading technology companies. He calls it one of the most important companies in the world, and says it is completely vertically integrated inside Europe. He uses this to argue against the view that Europe cannot compete in advanced technology.
“if I look at ASML, ASML is one of the most important companies in the world. It's completely vertically integrated and it's vertically integrated inside of Europe. So this proves that Europe can do it.”at 29:05

ASML sits in a critical part of the chip stack and is a safer way to own the value chain.
ASML builds the machines that all chips are made with, so every chip flows through it. It sits in a very important part of the stack. Where capital and purchase orders are most likely to stick is in these core names, so ASML is a safer way to own the chip trade than peripheral names.
“They basically build the machines that all of the chips that get delivered flow through. So they're in a very important part of the stack.”at 15:03

ASML's earnings were fabulous on rising demand, despite its stock being clobbered.
ASML reported a terrific quarter with rising demand that was much better than expected. Cramer expected it to offset a weak SK Hynix, but the stock reversed and fell after SK Hynix dropped further. He still calls the earnings fabulous and treats the sell-off as a disconnect from the fundamentals.
“ASML, the gigantic Dutch semiconductor capital equipment maker, reported a terrific quarter this morning. Talked about rising demand, much better than expected.”at 8:07

ASML is a buy if it raises guidance and reports solid demand for its chipmaking machines.
Cramer describes ASML as the Dutch maker of huge machines used to manufacture semiconductors, which he saw at a Micron foundry in Idaho. He says that if ASML raises guidance and talks about solid demand, investors should be ready to buy. The view is conditional on the report.
“If ASML raises guidance and talks about solid demand, then you need to be ready to do some buying.”at 6:58
